The premiere hotel in Bora Bora in French Polynesia is actually named the Hotel Bora Bora. The island, which is only four miles long and two and a half miles wide, is a land of such breathtaking beauty that it actually inspired novelist James Michener to rename it Bali H’ai and feature it in his Tales of the South Pacific.
The hotel Bora Bora is on Matira Beach, which is one of the most stunningly gorgeous places in the Pacific Islands, and that’s saying a great deal! The hotel is a collection of thatched roof bungalows. Some are on the beach or the garden and have their own pools and jacuzzi’s. Some of them stand on stilts in the turquoise blue water. The guest only has to walk out of their bedroom, cross the sundeck and walk down the steps into the lagoon. If they’re up to it, they can snorkel amongst the shoals of rainbow colored fish, or hand feed the lagoon sharks.
A 45 minute flight from Papeete in Tahiti takes the guest to Bora Bora Airport, then the motor launch delivers them to the resort.
